Two Tall Grass Prairie Field Assistants are needed for the Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie Preserve, located near Gardenton, Manitoba.


Green Team – 14 weeks (May 25 – Aug 27); 8 hours/day; $12.60/hr Green Team eligibility requirements – applicants must be 16 to 29 years of age, a permanent resident of Manitoba and eligible to work in Canada.


Assist staff with:

  • monitoring endangered and other rare species
  • sampling vegetation plots
  • managing non-native species
  • mapping locations using a handheld GPS unit
  • entering data into computer (MS Word, MS Excel, ArcMap)



  • must possess a valid driver’s licence
  • must possess a vehicle for daily use on the job (reimbursement for work use)
  • must have the ability to work outdoors in a field location


Qualities considered to be assets:

  • familiar with use of a GPS
  • knowledge of general ecological principles
  • familiar with legal land descriptions
  • ability to interpret aerial photographs
  • familiar with plant identification techniques
