Dillon’s Transportation & Faciliites technical group is looking for a Surveyor to act as a technical support and join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
This position is available at our Winnipeg office in Manitoba.


What your day will look like

Surveying & Project coordination (97%)
  • Collect and manage geospatial data from a variety of sources
  • Provide support to design team regarding co-ordinate systems and adjustment of survey data
  • Import and export of geospatial data and methodology for survey data collection
  • Undertake surveys for geospatial data collection and construction layout
  • Construction supervision and inspection
  • Test and implement new geospatial tools, including hardware, applications and software
  • Help to develop, inform and implement best practices for geospatial data collection, workflow, quality control and management
  • Monitor new innovation and technology and make recommendations for geospatial hardware, applications and software
  • Supervise, monitor and develop junior survey and field staff
  • Assist, as necessary, for hiring of summer students for construction administration season
  • Liaison with other Dillon offices for survey technical support
  • Business travel upon request

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring

What you will need to succeed
  • A diploma in geomatics or civil engineering technology
  • Legal surveyor designation is considered an asset


  • 3-5 years geomatics experience in engineering, control, civil construction, piping and earthwork/volume surveys and GIS data collection
  • Construction layout experience to include urban and rural roadways, linear pipes, bridges and structures, civil infrastructure, and earthworks
  • Experience in the use of ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and Trimble Business Centre
  • Extensive GPS, Total Station, and rod and level experience
  • Experience in the use of UAV survey drones and/or 3D laser scanning considered an asset
