Esri Canada is seeking multiple Business Analysts, who will focus on property assessment software and solutions. In this role, you will leverage your knowledge and experience in leading the business analysis and implementation of Enterprise GIS-enabled mass appraisal solutions based on Microsoft and Esri technology. As a Business Analyst, you will contribute to the ongoing business operations of the company by effectively providing professional business analysis services for software development and assigned consulting projects.

Business Analyst responsibilities include:

  • Take high level (story mapped) features and epics and work with key client stakeholders to refine into detailed requirements for the development team
  • Facilitate customer interviews and workshops
  • Participate in business process analysis to determine opportunities for improvement, assess risk, recommend and implement improved methods
  • Document ‘to-be’ business processes to support product development
  • Provide technical expertise in the user requirements analysis, estimation, design, development, and implementation of Enterprise solutions
  • Model client requirements and define functional specifications and system architecture
  • Work closely with Solution Architects, UX Designers, Business Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance and the Product Manager to find elegant solutions to complex problems
  • Actively participate in all Scrum ceremonies
  • Support the team to plan, prioritize and complete multiple concurrent tasks in an environment of changing deadlines, priorities and requirements
  • Support client with increment planning and MVP development
  • Identify technical challenges and risk for both the customer and product development team
  • Provide expertise and guidance in backlog prioritization techniques
  • Be flexible to support any task, supporting a cross-functional team mindset
  • Support iterative release activity; testing, defect triage, client queries
  • Coordinate and provide pre and post-implementation support
  • Assist in producing status and consulting reports as required
  • Actively participate in the preparation of proposals (e.g. RFPs, RFIs and RFQs)

Specific skill requirements:

  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis
  • Demonstrable understanding of iterative software development methodologies such as Scrum / Kanban
  • Experience in managing client relationships
  • Experience in facilitating discussions and leading workshops
  • Awareness of emerging IT trends and directions
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, MBA, computer science, or civil engineering

  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)

Considered as assets for this position are the following:

  • Knowledge and experience with Geographic Information Systems in general, and Esri products specifically
  • Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN 2.0)
  • Proficiency with SQL and Excel
  • Working towards obtaining the Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CBAP) exam monitored by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA)
  • Experience working with large government organizations
  • Familiarity with TargetProcess
