November 1st is here and so we are officially kicking off the 30 Day Map Challenge! Please read below for all the details about this fun event.
Participate in the #30DayMapChallenge with us for a chance to win one of 5 prizes!
The #30DayMapChallenge is a global online event created by Topi, a geographer in Finland. It is meant to inspire new and experienced cartographers alike to create and share a themed map for each day in the month of November. Examples include “Polygons” on November 3rd, “Monochrome” on the 9th, “Historical” on the 17th, and “Elevation” on the 24th to name a few. Create as many or few maps at whatever quality you can.
MGUG is taking this opportunity to get our members involved in the challenge! We are encouraging members to share their maps with each other and are pitching in prizes for extra incentive. There are a few ways you can participate:
Simply post a picture of your own original map on social media using the hashtag #30daymapchallenge and be sure to tag mgug for a chance to win one of our prizes.
Post your maps in the new #30-day-map-challenge-2020 channel in the MGUG Member Community Slack (sign up here).
Or submit your maps ahead of time to firstname.lastname@example.org. Just be sure to attach your map in an image format and to specify the date/theme for each map submitted.
Either way, you’ll get one entry in the prize draw for each map submitted. During November we will select some of our favorite submissions to re-post on our social media to celebrate cartography within our membership. We will hold the draw and send prizes in early December.
